Certificate of Registration Assistant Agent in real estate
A new course developed to meet NSW Fair Trading requirements for you to become an assistant agent. This course is the stepping stone to your future real estate career.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be issued with a ‘Statement of Attainment’ outlining the required units of competency. This statement can be used to apply to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), along with the necessary application in order to receive your Certificate of Registration. Your Certificate of Registration is valid for four years, in which time you will be required to complete the Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice (CPP41419) and transition to a Class 2 licence.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, substantial work experience would be highly regarded. It is recommended that individuals should:
- be 18 years or older; and
- Have an intermediate level of computer skills and knowledge
- have access to a computer and internet
- have completed Year 11 or its equivalent with suitable English language skills
- For domestic students ONLY
- Office Assistant
- Assistant Real Estate Sales
- Assistant Property Manager
- Marketing and Administration Assistant
The course is designed to be completed within 19 Weeks, but students with prior industry experience or knowledge can complete the course earlier.

To be eligible for a property certificate of registration (real estate or stock and station), applicants will need to:
- be aged 16 years or over
- have completed all 5 core units of this course

The Property and Stock Agents Act 2002 states, anyone undertaking the functions of a salesperson or property manager in NSW must be registered as an assistant agent and hold a Certificate of Registration.
A NSW Assistant Agent Course – Certificate of Registration allows you to work in a real estate office in either sales, property management or administrative / support role. An assistant agent does have limited duties and must work under the direct supervision of a licensed agent.
To obtain a NSW Certificate of Registration, applicants are required to complete the prescribed units of competency:

CPPREP4001 Prepare for professional practice in real estate
CPPREP4002 Access and interpret ethical practice in real estate
CPPREP4003 Access and interpret legislation in real estate
CPPREP4004 Establish marketing and communication profiles in real estate
CPPREP4005 Prepare to work with real estate trust accounts
